Frequently Asked Questions

The first thing we would recommend is to talk to a professional kitchen designer, especially if you’ve never renovated before. Our designers can walk you through the whole process, offer advice on how to proceed and the pitfalls to watch out for. Investing at this stage will save you time & money throughout your project

The H&H initial process is an in-depth one helping our clients end up with a professional design and floorplan, 3D walkthrough experience and a fixed price quote.

We will ask some initial questions to ensure we are the best choice for you before inviting you to attend a free no-obligation showroom appointment with our in-house designer to see examples of our finishes, benchtops and storage solutions and to talk through your needs and ideas.

Following this, we will commence our Design Service and organise appointment times for you for an in-home design consultation and to be presented with floorplans, your 3D walkthrough and a detailed quotation.

Yes. Our showroom is located at 5 Florence St, Burwood, and is open, by appointment only, Monday to Fridays. Unfortunately our showroom is not open on weekends. To make an appointment please call 9808 4200.

There are many variables that affect the cost of a complete kitchen renovation, all of which we can help specifically answer when you speak with one of our Design team. Most renovations these days can be between $35-60K (assuming a 2-pack painted finish with stone benchtops).

The design stage of a kitchen renovation can vary, depending on how much research clients have already done. Don’t be fooled by things you see in the media, good design and functionality of a custom build doesn’t happen overnight. In some cases there can be a few months of discussions and revisions between clients and the designers before the design, finishes and budget are locked in. Again, Investing at this stage will save you time & money throughout your project.

I would say 1-6 weeks depending on the various options you pick. The installation of cabinetry depending on complexity and size can take 1-3 days. H & H will do everything to minimize your kitchen downtime period, whilst being sure to achieve the most incredible finish for you

Potentially 6 week depending on benchtops, splashbacks and trade works

Polyurethane 2-Pac (or painted) is the most desired material for a high quality finished cabinet today, due to its beautiful finish, unlimited colour pallet and sealed edges. Polyurethane is recognized by professionals as the top notch finish for kitchens and furniture.

Melamine (Laminated) doors are made from resin soaked paper, which is then bonded onto particle board or MDF. The resin used in the construction of melamine doors make them highly durable and versatile, with a number of different colours and finishes. The edges of the doors are sealed in a matching coloured ABS tape.

2-pack Polyurethane painted surfaces are extremely durable, and make a beautiful finish to your kitchen cabinetry.  Of course, being realistic, nothing is indestructible.  However the beauty of 2-pack is that if it does get damaged, in most cases, it is repairable without having to replace the door or drawer face.

There are no issues in still continuing to use reconstituted stone bench tops.  Most of the stone supply companies have been working tirelessly to transition their products to low silica versions to comply with Government Regulations.  If you refer to some of the more popular supplier’s websites you will find all the information you need.  e.g. https://www.caesarstone.com.au/health-and-safety/

There are no health issues to you when the stone is installed in your home.

Once we have signed off plans and specifications approved we will book your job into our schedule, depending on workload it can be 6-12+ weeks from sign off.

Once you have we have signed off plans and specifications

Our next steps together, once you’ve signed your quote, is to pull together and finalise the following elements:

  • Design/Layout.
  • Job Specifications (Finishes) e.g. Door finish/es, Benchtop colour, handles, etc
  • Appliance Selections

Once these are all locked in, we can finalise an intended installation date and issue contracts.

10 Year workmanship warranty

7 Year home warranty insurance (Subject to project value)

Hardware and Accessories as Manufacturers warranty can be from 12 months – Lifetime Warranty

The hinges & drawers H & H use came with a lifetime warranty

Both are viable options. The beauty of coming into the showroom is that our designers can show you the latest available products and you can see/touch/use them. If you want an onsite consultation, there is a small fee to have our designers come out.

As there are a lot of options out there we usually recommend making an appointment to visit one of the professionals at E & S Trading, our preferred supplier to go through your requirements. We can assist you with making this appointment.

Yes. Before any construction takes place there will be a formal check measure of your space. This will be compared back to the desired design to ensure everything will work as planned.

Flat pack kitchens are made to set sizes with limited options which may not work with your space, leaving large gaps, voids and not utilizing the space to the fullest.

Custom kitchens utilize every millimeter of space with cabinets built to fill the space with no large gaps or voids, you also have endless options in colors, finishes and sizing. You may have a large stock pot or wok, we can customize the size of drawers and cabinets to make sure everything fits.

Using the right people, be sure to use a registered builder, qualified and licensed tradespeople. If you don’t use professionals who are up to date with the latest codes, rules & regulations, it can for example impact an insurance claim

Indeed! (Not sure of current industry stats though?)
